March 2018

Poor guy, fell asleep on my lap in the doctor's office.
It's hard to believe that 2018 is already a quarter of the way through. This month started out with some illness in our house... for the millionth time. There were all kinds of things I knew I wouldn't be prepared for when we had a kid and one of the big ones was how much more often we'd get sick! Luckily for us, it wasn't anything severe and over in a couple days.
Under the watchful eye of Jack...
it helps if you wear a dino hoodie.

Ahhh... this is the life.

The weather has also been kind of nuts this month- it can't decide if winter is really over or not. At one point, we had no snow in the yard and were playing outside without a coat. Then a week later and we had to bring the snowpants back out. Then it all melted and we were back to sweatshirts. Welcome to life in the midwest, I guess.
World's smallest snowman!
Proud of his work!

Noah decided we needed to sled on the one patch of snow left in the yard. I was skeptical that it would work...
Yep, that counts as sledding.
The birds are coming back and they're hungry!

Jordan had to travel for work this month so my mom came to visit for a few days and help out with Noah. We hadn't seen her since Christmas and it's always nice to have her visit. Plus, Noah loves the extra cuddles and treats!
I mean, c'mon. This is too adorable.
We went to the Children's Museum and Noah was obsessed with this stacking hay activity again (he discovered it last time we visited.) He immediately ran to it and would have stayed here all day if we let him, just stacking hay with the rope/pulley system.
Me and my favorite little guy.
Using the clothesline with Grandma.

March is Youth Art month which means it's always a very busy and exciting time at school. We hosted a Fine Arts week for the second year in a row and it was a lot of fun. All of the arts activities offered in our department were full of students during the school day. There was also a 'Whine and Paint' night after school for staff and an Artist reception for the show in the gallery, featuring artwork from students at every school in the district. As always, I feel so fortunate to work in my school district. There are plenty of Fine Arts teachers that have no where near the support and resources that we have, and I'm grateful to be where I am.
Painting on the wheel is always fun!
Look at that concentration! It's so fun to see our staff members get into their artwork!
Some students asked if we would help host a drag performance and Q&A session. It was hugely popular and an amazing success! The performers were so energetic and fun, and the audience asked them thoughtful and engaging questions. It made me so proud- the young people in this country are exceptional!
In case you're wondering how many pizzas it takes to feed 50 high schoolers...
During the artist reception, Sarilis and I spent most of the time chasing our own kiddos around. And eating lots of snacks. #momteacherlife
On the last day of Fine Arts week, we decided to dress up like Bob Ross, happy trees, and a happy sun. Yes, we are the best art department ever!

A couple other fun things with Noah this month included making dinosaur cookies (we have this book and Noah insisted that we needed to make some!) and going to a Children's Carnival at my school. This kid. He just gets more and more fun. :)
So proud! The student helpers were great!
Trying out the race tracks, of course.

Coolest kid ever.

Moments like this are the absolute best.

Dino cookies!
Double fisting cookies. Living his best life.

At the end of the month, it was finally spring break! We took a short family trip to MN. It had been quite awhile since we visited so it was great to see everyone, even if it was just for a few days. As always, Noah loved being the star of the show with lots of grandmas and grandpas to read books with him and be his audience for his many singing and dancing performances. I swear, this kid is destined for the theatre.
I love his sleeping poses in the car...
How is this comfortable?!

Visiting with great-grandma Jeri. She always has treats!
Here grandma, let me show you how this works...
It was great for Jordan to catch up with his grandparents.
Fun with Grandpa Brad!
Of course Noah was interested in the lawnmower...

So...
many...
books...

to read!

It was great to see everyone!

And, as always, the final random pictures that don't fit in anywhere else... see you in April!

Noah made this at preschool this month...
All the reason he's lucky...

Awww... so sweet.
Wait, I don't know if that's quite true!

Celebrating with my favorite colleagues!
Fun at Barnes and Noble during spring break!
He loves this thing at the library. All the coins!

March 2016 vs July 2016 vs March 2018. I can't even deal. He's so big! (And my camera quality has improved pretty dramatically!)
This cat. Still weird. Same as his brother.
I baked two veggie pot pies this month. Go me!
And dyed my hair over break, going more red!

Monkey faces at Culvers, of course.
Life is good.
