Self-Isolation: Week 9 (5/10-5/16)

Just a typical day in the Parker house. Noah gave me the mama bear because she has her babies with her and gave Evan the baby duckling. And he's the bald eagle. That all sounds about right to me.
Another week down. And it included Mother's Day (good) and the WI supreme court striking down Governor Evers stay-at-home order (dumb and bad.) So we'll see how the next few weeks go in our state as things start opening and people start going out more. Within hours after the decision, there were bars opening up and people crowding in them. So stupid. It's not like we can just say, well, we're tired of doing this lockdown thing so let's just decide it's over. It's frightening how many people don't/won't listen to healthcare workers and scientists (actual scientists, not the crackpots they find on Youtube.)

The good news is that Dane county issued its own stay-at-home order and there is now free COVID testing for anyone that wants it at the Alliant Energy Center. There are now 11,685 confirmed cases in WI as of this morning. Of course, all of this information doesn't really change anything for our family. We're still home, shopping very infrequently and wearing masks, and social distancing.

One small change this week is that Jordan went into his office to work for a few days instead of working at home. He is able to be much more efficient and productive working on his computer at work and he's able to get from our house into his office without encountering anyone. He works alone in his office and has minimal public surfaces that he touches when he arrives and leaves so it felt like an okay thing to do. Of course this meant I was solo parenting all day which was okay, but I know I was not meant to be a stay at home mom. I don't think anyone really understands what it's like unless you're living it. And it's especially challenging when you're not able to take your kids to the park, on playdates, or the library. We continue to find ways to fill the time and thankfully we're able to go outside more and for longer periods.

Mother's day was on Sunday and it was a nice day. Noah and Jordan took some photos and made a sweet slideshow/video for me that made me cry, of course. I made a little project to give to our moms and Jordan's grandma, and we made a family painting that is cheesy but I love it anyway. And I got to eat a feast of Indian food after the kids were in bed. Here are some pics from the week...
